FOR THE FIRST TIME IN BOSTON
Russill Paul offers the authentic tradition of mantra recitation, presenting the full scope of its transforming power to the western yoga practitioner and spiritual seeker in a manner that is easy to understand. He provides the workshop attendee with the rich and authentic sounds of Indian chant yet blending it with contemporary instrumentation and world class musicianship so that it is readily accessible, enjoyable and effortless.
What is unique to Russill Paul is his unusual background of being the combination of a Benedictine monk and yogi who has studied Sankrit chanting and Indian music through traditional methods in the great temple cities of India. Furthermore, he complements his presentations with a profound intellectual understanding of the historical, spiritual and
scientific value of chant in the Hindu tradition that is rare among artists of his caliber. www.russillpaul.com
Journeying with the Chakras: Sexual Energy and Mysticism
December 5th . Saturday . 10 AM to 5 PM
At the heart of Tantric teaching is the understanding of spiritual energy as the basic force that lives and moves and breathes in all of life and matter. This Kundalini, or coiled energy, originating in the depths of our sexual presence, is predisposed to moving through the chakras to give us the varying experiences of life in all its many shades and dimensions; without it, life would be dull and meaningless. Yet, excessive accumulation of energy, constricted patterns and tendencies that block its flow, or the loss of energy through involuntary acts of thought or behavior, can all interfere with the transmutation of sexual energy into a higher consciousness, an alchemy of the soul that is essence of Tantra.
During this workshop, we will, through various exercises and discussions, explore the gnostic tradition of Tantra and its methods of working with energy as we examine the Chakra System and its relevance for our times.
The Yoga of Sound: Healing and Enlightenment through Mantra
December 6th . Sunday . 10 AM to 5 PM
During this workshop, you will be introduced to an expansive range of possibilities in mantra through exploring the Vedic, Tantric, Bhakti traditions of mantra, as well as Nada Yoga, the traditional term for the yoga of sound. You will understand the functional value of these specific types of mantra as an aid to your spiritual and yoga practice, both on and off the mat, as a viable support system to take on all the vagaries and challenges that come your way in life, and, as powerful tools that sculpt, configure and transform energy into refined states of consciousness.
Mantras are the quintessential tools of our spiritual evolution, needed at present time more than ever in human history. Proper knowledge of the art and application of mantra can make a substantial difference in your spiritual life, your health, and your yoga practice.
